The Adairsville Tigers will have to wait until the end of the season, but it appears that they’re playoff hopes were dashed on Friday night with a 31-10 loss to the Ringgold Tigers.

Ringgold gave Adairsville several chances to stay in the game, but the Tigers were unable to capitalize. Ringgold missed a 23-yard field goal and two PATs in the first half, but could only muster three points on an Emmanuel Lopez 42-yard field goal with 16 seconds left in the second quarter.

After stopping Ringgold on its opening drive in the third quarter, Adairsville’s offense marched down the field and was capped with a Mason Boswell 4-yard touchdown run to cut into the lead 12-10. Ringgold marched right down the field on its next possession picking up 90 yards on five plays that were capped with a  35-yard touchdown run by Andre Tarver. Following a stalled Adairsville drive, Tarver scored on the next possession on a 40-yard run to give Ringgold its 25-10 lead.

It appeared that momentum might shift the way of Adairsville when a shanked punt bounced off of Mason Boswell’s helmet and gave Adairsville the ball in Ringgold territory. Unfortunately, the drive would end with an interception inside the red zone and would thwart the Adairsville rally. Ringgold scored a late touchdown by Dalton Green to finish off the visiting Tigers.

The Tigers will have to wait and see exactly where their playoff hopes lie after next week’s slate of games. The Tigers have an outside chance of the playoffs if they have the highest Maxwell Preps rating among Class AAA teams. Adairsville entered the game just .25 points off from Ringgold for the final spot.
