Bartow County EMS along with the Bartow County Fire Department, Bartow County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle accident shortly after 9:00 am. The accident occurred on Highway 411 just north of Johnson Mountain Road. Upon Bartow County EMS arrival, the crew found a tractor trailer logging truck lying on its side with the logs it was hauling scattered across the road. The driver of the tractor-trailer was out of the vehicle with no complaints of injury. The second vehicle a small passenger car was off the roadway with a tremendous amount of damage. The patient in the car needed to be extricated by the Bartow County Fire Department. Bartow County EMS was able to enter the vehicle during extrication to begin treatment of the patient. Air life was requested for transport to a level 1 trauma center. Once the patient was extricated he was found to have numerous legs fractures and a possible pelvic fracture. The patient also had abdominal and chest trauma but he was conscious and alert but in tremendous pain. The patient was flown to Grady Hospital for treatment.
