According to reports, the accident occurred Wednesday, September 6th, 2023, at 8:23 a.m., Georgia State Patrol Troopers were dispatched to a three-vehicle, serious injury collision on Burnt Hickory Road near Tate Way in Bartow County. The collision involved a white GMC Sierra, traveling southbound on Burnt Hickory Road; a white Toyota Corolla, stopped in the southbound lane on Burnt Hickory Road, yielding to turn left into a private driveway; and a white Kia Forte, traveling northbound on Burnt Hickory Road. Officials say the evidence revealed that the white Corolla was stopped and was attempting to turn left into a private driveway. The driver of the GMC Sierra truck was following too closely and attempted to steer left in an effort to avoid a collision with the Toyota Corolla. The GMC Sierra traveled into the northbound lane, striking the left rear of the Toyota Corolla and the front of the Kia Forte, with its front. The drivers of the GMC Sierra and of the Kia Forte were transported to Piedmont Medical Center. The rear passenger of the Toyota Corolla (toddler in a car seat) was airlifted to Scottish Right Hospital in Atlanta. The driver of the Kia Forte succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is assisting with the reconstruction of the collision and investigation.
