Forty-year-old Brandon Deon Ross was booked into the Bartow County Jail March 29, 2022 and charged with three counts of child molestation and two counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes.  He pleaded guilty to the child molestation charges; the other charges were dismissed. Ross received a 20-year sentence with 10 to serve incarcerate and the remainder on probation.

According to the facts of the case, last February, Ross engaged in a relationship with a woman he met online.  She moved from another state to Georgia with her minor children.  They lived near Ross.  The defendant touched a minor child under the age of 16 inappropriately and had the child touch him.  He also used inappropriate language to describe sex acts that he hoped to perform.

District Attorney Samir Patel told Judge Suzanne Smith that the state prioritizes not retraumatizing victims by forcing them to come court and testifying.

He must pay a $1,000 fine and have not contact with the named victims.

The state did not apply for recidivist treatment making Ross parole eligible.  He must abide by sex offender conditions.  He was previously sentenced under sex offender conditions; those conditions expired in 2021.  Judge Smith accepted the sentencing recommendations but firs told Ross that he faced a potential sentence of 120 years incarcerated or a life sentence.
