CARTERSVILLE, Ga.- March 20, 2018: Patrick Nelson, Community Redevelopment Coordinator with Bartow County, has been named interim executive director of Advocates for Children, during the search for a permanent President & CEO. He will fill the role recently vacated by Karen White.
The Advocates for Children board of trustees officially welcomed Nelson to the organization at their meeting this morning.
The search for a permanent President & CEO is expected to take up to six months. Board members have contracted with Janet Tharp of J&L Advisors to lead the search.
Nelson has deep ties to the organization; his mother, Terry Nelson, was Advocates’ first executive director. Nelson is engaged in the local community and has a strong background in the non-profit arena, currently serving as Chairman of the Cartersville Bartow Community Foundation, Bartow Collaborative and BLESS Coalition and President of the Rotary Club of Etowah. He is a native of Bartow County and resides here with his wife, Bree, and their two sons, Colin and Hollis. Thanks to the support of Commissioner Steve Taylor, Nelson will continue in his role with Bartow County while serving as the interim executive director of Advocates.
