A Cartersville man charged with computer pornography enters a guilty plea in Bartow Superior Court. Sixty-five-year-old William Lanier Biggs was arrested on May 7, 2023, and charged with numerous counts of computer pornography, enticing a child for indecent purposes, and criminal attempt to commit aggravated child molestation. Biggs pleaded guilty to two counts of computer pornography, he received a 15-year sentence with the first three years to serve in confinement and the remainder on probation. The state chose not to prosecute Biggs on the other charges. He must pay a $1,000 fine and $350 in attorney fees.
According to reports, Biggs initiated a chat while on Grindr with a GBI agent representing himself as a 13-year-old male. Grindr is a social networking app. During a recorded session, Biggs stated the sexual activity he wanted to engage in with a person he thought was a child.
Biggs was arrested at a drugstore on Grassdale Road. He was observed walking to the store to meet the teen. He sat on the sidewalk in front of the store. He was taken into custody by agents without incident. While Biggs was taken to jail, agents retrieved his oxygen from a nearby hotel.
