September 22, 2022. Cartersville, Georgia. – Cash prizes totaling $1,000 were awarded to seven juried artists at the 47th Annual Arts Festival held this past weekend in Cartersville, Georgia. Four of the winning artists, Sharon Camp, Kristina Rhodes, Ed Bryant, and Mia Koerner, live in Bartow County. Awards were presented in two categories, Fine Arts and Heritage Crafts, with the Best in Show chosen as the overall winner regardless of the art medium.

Sharon Camp, of Taylorsville took home the coveted Best in Show honor. This is Camp’s second time at the top after taking home Best in Show in 2016. Her Pioneer Crafts Pottery has been recognized two additional times at the Arts Festival at Rose Lawn, when she took First Place in 2019 and Second Place in 2012. During her tenure, Camp’s pottery captured the eye of eight different judges. Camp has been a mainstay of the Rose Lawn Arts Festival since it began, taking inspiration from other local potters, like the late Bill Gordy. She honed her craft while studying art at West Georgia College.

Also honored in Heritage Crafts was Ed Bryant of Euharlee, who achieved Second Place for his wood furniture and boxes. Mia Koerner of Cartersville took home Third Place for her quilts.

Cartersville artist Kristina Rhodes was honored with First Place in Fine Arts for her hand-sculpted DreamKinz. Dressed as a woodland fairy, Rhodes shared her whimsical creations that found favor with both the judges and those who attended the two-day festival.

Others awarded this past weekend include jewelry artists Carlos Vega of Antioch TN at Second Place and Courtney McClure of Columbus GA in Third Place Fine Arts. McClure’s Wanderlust Designs was awarded First Place at Rose Lawn in 2021. It was Vega’s first time showing at Rose Lawn. The Heritage Crafts category was rounded out by another first-time artist Chris Hick of Ellijay for his handcrafted knives. Hick’s work can also be seen at the upcoming Christmas Village November 4-5, at the Clarence Brown Conference Center.

The 47th Annual Arts Festival at Rose Lawn was judged by Artists Doug Pisik and Heather O’Donnell, both of Marietta, GA. There were 120 artists and vendors participating in the annual two-day show.
