Briauna Carrie Joann Persiani

Bartow County deputies transferred 18-year-old Briauna Carrie Joann Persiani of Douglasville from Grady Hospital to the jail Monday afternoon on two counts of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances and fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer. The BCSO released her Monday night on an $11,500 bond.

Fire staff had to extricate her from a red 2013 Kia Forte she was allegedly driving at around 11:05 a.m. on June 6th that struck a concrete curb while going eastbound on Sugar Valley Road, traveled up an embankment, vaulted over railroad tracks, and wrecked into a scrap metal business on 318 Cassville Road. Persiani was flown to the hospital.

An ambulance took her passenger, 18-year-old Luke Kye Layton of Cartersville, to Cartersville Medical Center for treatment. Bartow County deputies booked him into the jail later that day.

The BCSO charged him with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance in schedule one, and felony fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer.

The BCSO released Layton on June 9th on an $11,500 bond.
