Richard Howard Hicks Jr.

Bartow County deputies were dispatched to Waffle House on Highway 20 in Cartersville early Tuesday morning after a man allegedly tried to pass a fake 100-dollar bill for payment. As deputies arrived, the man was trying to leave the parking lot in his car.

Upon identifying the suspect as Richard Hicks of Adairsville, he was instructed to park his car and was placed under arrest for two forgery in the fourth degree warrants from January 10th and 15th respectively and a violation of probation warrant from January 22nd.

One deputy that was investigating inside the restaurant was given a fraudulent driver’s license that Hicks had left behind. It had the name of Howard Kirk, but the picture was Hicks’. Hicks admitted the fake license was his.

Another deputy searched the center console of Hicks’ car and discovered a check written out to Howard Kirk and had a business name of Apache Mills out of Calhoun. The deputy also found behind the driver’s seat check printing software with multiple blank checks which appeared to be the same style check that was found in the console.

Richard Hicks was also charged with possessing a fraudulent identification document and another charge of forgery in the fourth degree.
