DEADLINE TO FILE:  APRIL 1, 2024

  • All new homeowners are eligible to apply for Homestead Exemption if they own their home and occupy it on January 1. You can not receive homestead exemption at any other home.
  • If you have moved or recorded a new deed, you will need to re-apply.
  • Disabled Veterans who are 100% service-connected may apply.
  • A disabled person with a total household income of less than $20,000 may apply and must re-apply yearly.

 

  • City of Cartersville residents who are 65 or older may apply for a $60,000 homestead exemption from the City School portion.

 

  • Beginning January 1, 2023, Senior School Tax homestead exemptions were changed in Bartow County, as listed below. You must own your home and reside there to apply for the following exemptions.  You must re-apply as you meet the age requirements.  All of these are Bartow County School District ad valorem taxes portion. This DOES NOT apply to City residents.
  • 65 years old on January 1, school tax exemption of $60,000 off the assessed value
  • 75 years old on January 1, school tax exemption of $80,000 off the assessed value
  • 80 years old on January 1, school tax exemption of $200,000 off the assessed value

 

You may apply for these exemptions in person at any time during the year. However, the application must be filed by April 1st of the year in which the exemption is to be granted.
