According to Georgia State Patrol reports, the post received the call at 5:06 p.m. on September 21. Initial indication is that two motorcycles struck head-on on Wayside Road, at a high rate of speed, while traveling in opposite directions over the hill crest. Both motorcycle operators were fatally injured. They have been identified as Austin Baldwin, 20 and Timothy Redd, 22.
Multiple witnesses at the crash scene advised that both males had been speeding, riding wheelies and jumping a hill crest at high speeds on the motorcycles prior to the crash. The posted speed limit at the crash scene is 35 MPH.
