On Thursday, March 9, 2023, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office issued a BOLO on a
vehicle involved in shoplifting of baby formula from area Publix Supermarkets.
Cartersville Police Officers located the vehicle at the Publix Supermarket, 300 Cherokee
Place, and apprehended Regulo Sanchez-Romero, Mateo Sanchez-Romero, and a 16-
year-old juvenile, as they exited the store in possession of 12 cans of stolen baby
formula. A search of their vehicle resulted in the recovery of 662 cans of formula from
various supermarkets stolen from Atlanta area stores valued at $26,000.
Both adults have been charged with Felony Theft by Shoplifting, Felony Theft by
Receiving, and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. Additionally, Regulo
Sanchez-Romero was charged with Driving While Unlicensed, and Mateo Sanchez-
Romero was charged with Providing a False name and Date of Birth. Both adults
furnished Dallas, Texas, addresses and are housed at the Bartow County Jail. CPD
Investigators are working with metro law enforcement agencies and vendors to
determine the venue of unsolved thefts.
