Chelsea Megan Ellsworth

Press Release:  On Thursday, May 16, 2019, at approximately 3:51 a.m. the Adairsville Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a Nissan truck due to it having no tag light as well as not utilizing its turn signal. The truck finally stopped after going onto I-75 and continuing down to mile marker 307. Police contacted the driver, 21-year-old Chelsea Megan Ellsworth of Rossville Ga., and she immediately began to reach around in the vehicle in a suspicious manner.  Ellsworth also gave officers conflicting information about where she was coming from and where she was going.

     Officers then had Ellsworth exit the vehicle when she began to try to conceal an object in her hand by stuffing the object into her pants. After numerous directions to place her hands where officers could see them Ellsworth was handcuffed and searched. Officer located a small plastic bag containing a white powdery substance in her hand which was later found to be suspected Cocaine. Officers also located a cut off drinking straw containing a white powdery residue and a set of digital scales, also which were covered in a white powdery residue. Ms. Ellsworth was then arrested and transported to the Bartow County Jail. She faces numerous charges, including:

16-10-24(a) Resisting Willful Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers-Misdemeanor

16-13-32.2 Possession and Use of Drug Related Objects

16-13-30(a) Cocaine Possession of Cocaine
