Heroes Donation 02262014

This March, which is celebrated nationwide as Red Cross Month, a group of local “Heroes” is working hard to help the Red Cross continue its services in the Northwest Georgia area (which includes Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, Gordon, Murray, Polk, Walker and Whitfield Counties).   To help kick this campaign off, Nance Carpet & Rug of Calhoun made a $1,000 donation on February 25th and the Bartow County & Cartersville Fire Departments conducted a bucket drive in November of 2013 raising $15,000.

For more than 97 years, volunteers with the Northwest Georgia Chapter have been heroes to thousands of people throughout the Northwest Georgia area, lending aid during times of disaster, supporting military families and training citizens in lifesaving CPR and first aid skills.

“Heroes for the American Red Cross” is a grassroots campaign where local business people, school groups, church groups, civic clubs, and individuals pledge to raise $1000 for their local Red Cross chapter. This year, the Northwest Georgia Chapter hopes to raise $75,000 during this campaign to support Red Cross services including disaster relief, assistance for fire victims, emergency military communications, first aid and CPR training and disaster preparedness information for our community. All money raised will support your neighbors in Northwest Georgia.

Several businesses and individuals have already volunteered to serve as Heroes for the Red Cross and they include Nance Carpet & Rug (Calhoun), Calhoun Drug Company, Papa’s Pizza (Calhoun), Cici’s Pizza (Cartersville), Midland Communications Inc (Calhoun)., Coosa Valley Credit Union (Rome, Cartersville & Rockmart), Century Bank of Georgia (Calhoun, Cartersville & Rockmart), All Animal Care (Calhoun), Goodyear (Calhoun), Famous Footwear (Calhoun), Calhoun Elementary and Primary Schools and numerous individuals throughout the Northwest Georgia area.
