The 4th Annual Flower Ceremony to Commemorate the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims will be held Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the Clarence Brown Conference Center in Cartersville, beginning at 7:00 PM. This event will coincide with events around the nation to remember those in our community whose lives were lost to Murder.

Candace Jordan, a representative from Parents of Murdered Children will speak at this event; The Jr. ROTC from Gordon Central High School will present colors; Cartersville vocal artist, Ashlie Rae will be singing; and Steps of Faith dancers will perform an inspirational piece. A PowerPoint Presentation will include the names of 88 murder victims; 68 from Bartow; 17 from Gordon County and 3 out of state. As each name is read, family members in attendance will be presented with a flower honoring their memory.

The Victim Assistance Unit is a division of the District Attorney’s Office that helps victims and families deal with the trauma and effects of crime on their lives. Victim advocates guide victims through the court process and assist with providing crisis intervention, referrals, and many other services.

Anyone interested in attending the ceremony is welcome. It is a free event.
