On February the 3rd, 2019 the Adairsville Police department was contacted by a lady who had been violently assaulted. A female resident of Summer Street in Adairsville told Police that a friend of hers, John Anthony Evans age 37 had entered her residence and got into her bed. When shen awoke and asked him why he was there he had become violent and struck her in the face numerous times and had strangled her. A short time later she left her house and walked to the Police department and told officers about what had occurred.

    A short time later Officers surrounded the house and attempted to make entry, discovering Evans had barricaded himself in the residence by driving nails into the doors. After obtaining arrest warrants for Aggravated Assault as well as Battery, Adairsville Police along with Bartow County deputies and a K-9 made entry into the home.

    Shortly thereafter, Officers discovered Evans hiding under duct work and insulation in a small attic space. He was arrested without incident, checked by E.M.S., and transported to the Bartow County Jail.
