Cartersville softball broke open a 5-2 game Tuesday night at Sandy Creek with an eight-run fifth inning on their way to a 13-2 five-inning region win.

Cartersville pounded out 13 hits in the contest, but also took advantage of five Sandy Creek errors.

Paris Poston, Presley Edwards, and Ballard had three hits each for Cartersville. Edwards finished with four RBIs, Ballard three RBIs, and Poston drove in one run. Cobi Ballard grabbed the win after pitching four innings and striking out five Patriots, while just allowing two earned runs.

Lauren McElhaney had two hits and one RBI. Cio Seigler drove in a run with one hit and AnnaKate McElhaney had the other Lady Canes’ hit. Allie Jackson was credited with two RBIs.

Cartersville is now 2-3 on the season and 1-2 in region play.

 

Woodland softball led 6-2 heading to the bottom of the sixth Tuesday night at Kell when the host Longhorns rallied for six runs and an eventual 8-6 defeat of the Lady Cats.

Woodland took a 5-0 lead in the top of the fourth with four hits, three walks, and one hit batter. Jordan Duck had a two-RBI double, M Bailey added an RBI single, Madgie Robinson forced in a run with a bases loaded walk, and Bella Carnes contributed an RBI hit.

Woodland is 0-3 on the season with all games being played in its region.

 

Adairsville softball lost a back-and-forth battle at Bremen Tuesday evening 8-7.

Bremen led 3-0 after one inning, but the Lady Tigers scored seven runs over the next three frames to hold a 7-4 lead.

The host Blue Devils bounced back by posting four runs in the sixth and held on for the one-run region win.

Loren Harris was tagged with the loss after tossing all six innings and allowing just four earned runs.

Adairsville is now 4-3 on the season and 2-2 in region play.

 

The Cass softball team lost 5-2 at Hiram Tuesday evening in a region contest.

Cass did not manage a hit in the loss, but did score single runs in the third and fifth innings to narrow the margin to 4-2.

Taylor Gibson was saddled with the loss after tossing six complete innings with five strikeouts.

Cass is now 0-4 on the season and 0-2 in region play.

 

 

VOLLEYBALL

The Lady Canes defeated Northwest Whitfield 25-19, 18-25, 25-19 in a three-set battle. They then won in straight sets over Rockmart 25-12, 26-24.

The Lady Colonels beat Armuchee 25-14, 25-19 and finished off the night with a win over Gordon Central 25-12, 25-19.

The Lady Cats fell to Marietta in three sets but defeated Model in straight sets to earn the split. Woodland lost 19-25, 25-18, 9-15 to Marietta and defeated Model 25-20, 25-19.
