The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes football team defeated Woodward Academy Friday night by a score of 26-15. The win moves the Canes to the Final Four to match up against Mary Persons this Friday night for a home game at Weinman Stadium at 7:30. Tickets for the game are $14 a piece.

In basketball Friday night, the Cartersville girls by Coahulla Creek on the road for a 48-47 victory. The Georgia Highlands Lady Chargers were not as fortunate Friday night, as they fell to Gulf Coast State College by a score of 81-55.

In basketball on Saturday, The Cass Lady Colonels improved to 3-1 with a 60-53 win over North Murray. The Lady Colonels were led by Jana Morning’s 21 points. Kyla Michienzi added 15.

Cartersville girls fell to Haralson County by a score of 59-56 after leading by 17 in the second half. The Lady Canes received a good game from Monica Motuba, who had 17 points, six rebounds, and three steals. The Lady Canes are now 1-2 on the season.

The Cass boys improved to 2-1 on the season with a 54-44 win over Notre Dame Saturday, despite being down four players in the contest. Mark Chester led the Colonels with 22 points.

The Georgia Highlands Lady Chargers dropped their sixth contest of the season and their second in as many days with a 67-52 loss to Northwest Florida State College. D’Andre Pringle had 21 points in the Lady Chargers loss. GHC is no 3-6 on the season.

There is nothing on the schedule today, but there is a lot of high school basketball on tap tomorrow.

The Cartersville girls will travel to Sonoraville at 6:00.

The Excel girls will host Walker at 6:00.

And the Woodland girls will host Cedartown at 6:00.

The Excel boys will host Walker at 7:30, while the Woodland boys will host Cedartown also at 7:30.

In collegiate basketball, the Chattahoochee Tech women’s basketball team will travel to South Crescent Tech at 5:30, while the Chattahoochee Tech men’s basketball team will travel to South Crescent Tech for a game at 7:30.
