The Adairsville girls soccer team defeated Coahulla Creek Friday night by a score of 4-0 at Tiger Stadium to capture the Region 6-AAA Championship. The Lady Tigers, who finished the regular season 15-1, will host West Hall next Friday at 6 PM in the state playoffs.

The Woodland baseball team beat North Springs Friday night by a score of 10-8 to earn their second series sweep this season. Woodland finished the 2016 season with an 8-17 record.

The Georgia Highlands baseball team continued their recent struggles this past week as they lost three of four games and two of three over the weekend. The Chargers won 8-1 on Friday, but were then swept in a doubleheader on Saturday by scores of 14-9 and 8-1. The Chargers dropped to 24-24 on the season and 9-11 in conference play, where they currently sit tied for fourth.

Today in tennis, the Cartersville boys will host Perry in the second round of the state playoffs at 4:15, the Cartersville girls will host Mary Persons in the second round of the state playoffs at 4:15, and the Adairsville girls will be at Peach County for the second round of the state playoffs at 4:30.

Tomorrow in soccer, the Cartersville boys will start their playoff run at Grady for the first round of the state playoffs at 6:30.

Later on this week, both Adairsville and Cartersville baseball teams will start postseason play with Adairsville, which is the No. 3 seed, traveling to No. 2 seeded Dawson County at 5:55 and the No. 2 seeded Cartersville Purple Hurricanes, hosting Redan at 5:55.
