The final game of the regular season in high school football is tonight with all four local schools in action with all kickoff times scheduled for 7:30. Cass will travel to Carrollton, Adairsville will host North Murray, Cartersville will host Troup County, and Woodland will host Rome.

While the Cass and Woodland teams are eliminated from the playoffs, all eyes will be on Cartersville and Adairsville to see where each team will fall in their respective class playoffs. Adairsville will only make the playoffs if it beats North Murray this evening. Should it lose, the Tigers 2016 season will end. Cartersville, however, will make the playoffs regardless of its result with Troup County tonight. The only question prior to the game will be which seed will the Canes grab? A Cartersville win gives the Canes the No. 1 seed in Region 5-AAAA while a loss would give the team the No. 2 seed. Regardless of the result, the Canes will host a home playoff game next week.

The Georgia Highlands College Women’s Basketball team will start its 2016-17 regular season play today, as it will play Roane State Community College at the Walters State Classic in Morristown, Tennessee at 3:30. The Lady Chargers made the NJCAA tournament a season ago as the 16th Seed and beat Gillette in the first round of the tournament, before losing to Gulf Coast State, the No. 1 overall seed, in the Sweet 16 a season ago.

The Georgia Highlands College Men’s Basketball team will look to continue its early season success tonight, as it will host the Georgia Highlands College Classic. The Chargers will host Middle Georgia at 5:30 and will then play Alabama Prep at 7:30. The men’s team won its first game of the regular season on Tuesday by a score of 110-89 over Roane State Community College. The Chargers are currently ranked second in the NJCAA rankings.

The Chattahoochee Technical College Men’s Basketball team will also play tonight as it has a game at LakePoint in Emerson against Martinique at 7:30.
