On Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at 3:00 p.m., Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson will hold a press conference at the Chatham County Detention Center to unveil the Walking the Last Mile program. This pilot program, administered by the Georgia Department of Labor, is designed to break the cycle of incarceration and support successful reintegration into society through employment opportunities and vibrant community partnerships.

“The Walking the Last Mile program will break the chains of incarceration by equipping participants with the skills and resources necessary for a successful reentry into society,” said Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson. “This innovative program is ‘where opportunities begin’ for those who are seeking to embrace a fresh start and rebuild their lives.”
