The Cass Colonels moved to 5-0 on the season with a dominant 42-14 win against the Ridgeland Panthers (0-5) on Friday night.

The Cass offense proved potent early, but it was perhaps Tino Jones and the Cass defense that stole headlines throughout the game. Jones had three, first-half interceptions; two of which were returned for touchdowns. Mark Perdue had a fumble recovery return for a touchdown in the first half, as well.

The Cass offense had two rushing touchdowns in the game. CJ Pipkin broke off a long, touchdown pass on the game’s opening drive, which covered 80 yards in just three plays. Zay Jackson had a second-quarter rushing touchdown. Quarterback Devin Henderson threw his second touchdown pass of the game, a 14-yarder to Conner Ray, later in the first quarter.

Before Ridgeland could get 12 minutes behind it, the Cass offense led 35-0 in the first quarter. The Panthers trailed 42-7 at the half but was able to get a second-half score before the game would be final.

Cass is now 5-0 on the season but will face its most daunting task next Friday night when it hosts region and county rival Cartersville. You can hear the game on WBHF with pregame coverage beginning at 6:00 and kickoff set for 7:30.
