We now know the identity of a woman who died in a three-vehicle accident on Burnt Hickory Road Wednesday morning. According to reports, 35-year-old Amber Pitner of Cartersville was killed in the crash. Officials say the evidence revealed that a Toyota Corolla was stopped and was attempting to turn left into a private driveway. The driver of a GMC Sierra truck was following too closely and attempted to steer left to avoid a collision with the Toyota Corolla. The GMC Sierra traveled into the northbound lane, striking the left rear of the Toyota Corolla and the front of a Kia Forte, with its front. The drivers of the GMC Sierra and the Kia Forte were transported to Piedmont Medical Center. The rear passenger of the Toyota Corolla (toddler in a car seat) was airlifted to Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta. The driver of the Kia Forte, Amber Pitner succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. No further details have been released about the accident.
