Secretary of State Brian Kemp signed final decisions on the following Candidate Challenges on Thursday, Oct.17, 2013:

Garrett Jamieson v. Matt Laughridge

Secretary Kemp adopted the Administrative Law Judge’s findings of fact and conclusions of law and held that Matt Laughridge is qualified to be a candidate for the Georgia State Senate District 14.

Garrett Jamieson v. Dean Sheridan

Secretary Kemp adopted the Administrative Law Judge’s findings of fact and conclusions of law and held that Dean Sheridan is qualified to be a candidate for the Georgia State Senate District 14.

Garrett Jamieson v. Christopher G. Nesmith

Prior to the hearing challenging Christopher G. NeSmith’s qualifications to be a candidate for the Georgia State Senate District 14, the Petitioner withdrew his request for a hearing. As such, Christopher G. NeSmith shall remain on the ballot.

Brian Kemp has been Secretary of State since January 2010. Among the offices wide-ranging responsibilities, the Secretary of State is charged with conducting efficient and secure elections, the registration of corporations, and the regulation of securities and professional license holders.
