According to GSP reports, on May 18, two motorcycles were traveling east on Hwy. 293 around mile marker 14. As the lead bike exited the curve, he was going too fast and lost control of the motorcycle. He then struck the end of the guard rail with his head and was killed instantly. The deceased has been identified as 19 year old, Nathan Richards of Cartersville. The rear motorcycle driver witnessed this event happening, locked up his brakes causing him to dump his motorcycle in the process. He only sustained a broken ankle and was transported to Floyd Medical for care.
