The Adairsville Tigers (5-4, 3-3) defeated the Haralson County Rebels on Friday night by a score of 32-0. The Tigers will be the third seed from its respective sub-region and will play next week for a playoff berth.
The Tigers scored first with a 16-yard touchdown run from Mason Boswell to lead 7-0. On its second possession, Adairsville just missed another score as the ball was fumbled out of the back of the end zone to give the Rebels a touchback.
This sort of thing might have derailed the Tigers a year ago, but 2017 proved to be different.
On the very next possession, which was in the second quarter, Boswell would connect with Dakota Hughes for a 75-yard touchdown pass to give the Tigers a 13-0 lead after a missed PAT. Hughes would be helped off the field in the third quarter and would not return to the game following an injury.
Maddox Teems, an offensive lineman, got his chance to be in the spotlight with a 1-yard touchdown run to give the Tigers a 20-0 lead. The Tigers weren’t done scoring as Dayton Bailey would pick up a Boswell fumble and run it into the end zone to give Adairsville a 26-0 lead at the half.
Despite the time of possession being close, Adairsville outgained Haralson County 302-94 in the first half. The Tigers would go on to score another touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 31-yard run by Boswell to get the 32-0 win.
Adairsville will be back in action next week to play Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe for a chance to get back to the playoffs, after missing postseason play in 2016. You can hear the game on Bartow Sports Zone next week for your Johnny’s New York Style Pizza Bartow County Game of the Week.
