Cherokee Judicial Circuit District Attorney, Samir Patel Appointed Substitute Prosecutor for Several Fulton County Cases

ATLANTA, GA – Attorney General Chris Carr today announced that the Office of the Attorney General has appointed substitute prosecutors to handle the matters of State of Georgia v. Devin Brosnan and Garrett Rolfe, Fulton County Superior Court and State of Georgia v. Roland Claud, Mark Gardner, Lonnie Hood, Armon Jones, Willie Sauls and Ivory Streeter, Fulton County Superior Court.

For State of Georgia v. Devin Brosnan and Garrett Rolfe, Fulton County Superior Court, the Office of the Attorney General has appointed Executive Director of the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia, Peter J. Skandalakis.

For State of Georgia v. Roland Claud, Mark Gardner, Lonnie Hood, Armon Jones, Willie Sauls and Ivory Streeter, Fulton County Superior Court, the Office of the Attorney General has appointed Cherokee Judicial Circuit District Attorney, Samir Patel.

In Georgia, pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 15-18-5, the Office of the Attorney General can appoint another prosecutor if a district attorney disqualifies himself/herself or a court disqualifies him/her. These appointments are being made upon the disqualification of Fulton County District Attorney, Fani Willis, from both matters.

About Cherokee Judicial Circuit District Attorney Samir Patel

Samir Patel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Sciences and General Management from East Tennessee State University and a law degree from Georgia State University. Since 2010, Patel has served as Associate Attorney of White and Choate, in Cartersville, GA. Since 2017, Patel has also served as Municipal Court Judge of Euharlee, GA. Patel previously served as a Part Time Instructor at ITT Technical Institute in Kennesaw, teaching criminal law, constitutional law, and ethics. Patel was also an Assistant Public Defender in the Cherokee Judicial Circuit for five years. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Advocates for Children. Patel has previously served as president of the Bartow County Bar Association and the Bartow County Exchange Club. He has served as a High School Mock Trial Instructor and graduated from the Bartow County Chamber of Commerce Leadership program in 2014.
