The Cass Colonels looked to grab an inside edge for a playoff spot on Friday night but were shutout by the visiting Hiram Hornets 31-0.

Both defenses stood strong in the first half as a long 70-yard touchdown pass for Hiram made the early difference. In the second half, Hiram tossed another long touchdown pass to give the Hornets a 14-0 lead in the third quarter. From then on, Hiram’s offense kept the ball on the ground and moved at will, while the Cass offense struggled to find consistency.

Woodland was also shut out on Friday night as it fell to Carrollton 47-0.

Cass will travel to East Paulding next week, while Woodland will use a bye week to rest up and attempt to finish the regular season strong.
