Chief Thomas Culpepper of the Cartersville Police Department has advised that the Cartersville Police Department will serve as a collection point for food and school supply donations for the Flowering Branch Children’s Shelter.  The shelter has a constant need for these supplies.

Those interested in donating to the shelter may drop off non-perishable food and school supplies at the Police Department 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  The items may be left in the front lobby of the Public Safety Headquarters located at 195 Cassville Road.  Members of the Police Department will deliver the supplies to the shelter.

The public is asked to remember that the food items are for children when purchasing food items for donation.  A suggested food list includes snacks such as cookies, popcorn, fruit snacks, fruit rollups, Jell-O and pudding, crackers; canned food such as all Chef Boyardee products, soups, spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, vegetables; various types of pasta and Ramen noodles;  sweetened cereals; and beverages such as bottled water, fruit juices, Kool-Aid and Capri Sun.

Chief Culpepper stated, “The Flowering Branch Children’s Shelter provides a much needed service in the community.  I hope everyone will open their hearts to the needs of the shelter.”
