The Cartersville Board of Education met in regular session on August 12, 2019.

Principals presented the first “school news” reports of the year.
The System Financial and Utility Cost and Usage reports for June, 2019 were presented and approved.
The Board awarded Meadows Heating & Air, Cartersville, Ga., low bid as specified, for the ductwork of the CHS Gymnasium at the cost of $11,738.00.
The Board approved the following items:

- The Board Training Plan for the 2019-2020 school year.
- Dr. Marc Feuerbach to attend the Georgia School Superintendents Association 2019 Fall Bootstrap to be held October 16-17, 2019, in Athens, Ga.
- Several surplus items were also approved.
The following overnight/out-of-state trips were approved:
CMS 7th and 8th grade chorus to perform at Universal Studios/SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida on March 19-22, 2020.
CMS 8th graders to take the Tour of Georgia on May 4-9, 2020.
CHS Y-Club to attend the Y-Club Youth Assembly in Atlanta Georgia on November 17-19, 2019.
CMS 7th graders (approximately 50 students) to tour Washington DC on March 22-27, 2020.
The following rental requests were approved:
United Way of Bartow Co. to use the CMS parking lot during the 15th Annual Turkey Trot Road Race on November 23, 2019.
St. Francis of Assisi to use the CMS parking lot for overflow parking on October 4, 2019 during their 50th Anniversary Celebration.
Cartersville Women’s Club to use the CHS Auditorium for a benefit concert for Tranquility House on Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 1:00-11:00 p.m. with a request for the fee of $1750 to be waived as submitted. The Board approved the rental fee to be waived but the group will be expected to pay the hourly charge for custodial services.
Under Committee Reports:
Finance and Building and Grounds Committee Reports were presented.
A recommendation from Finance was presented and approved to purchase a 72 passenger bus from Thomas Bus Sales for $93,520 was approved. $77,220 will come from State Bus Bonds and the remaining $16,300 from SPLOST. This bus is coming from State Contract.
Also from the Finance Committee, the 2020 Certified Salary Schedule was approved.
