The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes (7-0, 3-0) were led by Trevor Lawrence’s six touchdown passes in the first half to come away with a 56-0 win over the LaGrange Grangers.
Lawrence and company got started quickly with a 43-yard touchdown strike to J’Kobe Orr to give the Canes an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter. Jackson Lowe would be the next recipient of a Lawrence touchdown pass, as he would come down with a 35-yard touchdown reception. When the first quarter had come to a close, the Canes led 14-0 but weren’t done.
Lawrence connected with EJ Turner twice in the second quarter for touchdown tosses. Turner had touchdown receptions of 10 yards and 51 yards respectively. TJ Horton would haul in a touchdown reception, as would Rico Frye and the Canes would lead 42-0 with only a few minutes left in the first half.
Cartersville special teams picked up a big play when Marquail Coaxum recovered a blocked punt for a touchdown to give Cartersville a 49-0 lead heading into the half.
With a running clock in effect for the second half, Marcus Gray would core the lone touchdown in the second half to give Cartersville its 56-0 win.
With the win, Cartersville now owns a current state-best 37-game winning streak.
The Canes are back in action next week when it hosts Sandy Creek at 7:30.
