Musical and Dance Performances, Santa Photo Op, and Christmas Tree Lighting

CARTERSVILLE – The Cartersville Downtown Development Authority invites the community to attend the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting in Friendship Plaza on Thursday, December 4th. Held annually to help kick off the Cartersville Exchange Club Christmas Parade, this free event features plenty of entertainment and activities to enjoy, including musical and dance performances, and free photo opportunities with Santa.

“This is such a great evening of fun, holiday cheer, and great community support,” said Cartersville DDA Manager Tara Currier. “Having grown up in Cartersville attending this parade for more than 20 years, it is still one of my most favorite events. The Tree Lighting in Friendship Plaza is a great way to enjoy local talent from the youth of our community, and the lighting of the tree before the parade kicks off still gives me chills. For those who may not come to downtown events often, this is definitely one I encourage people to attend. It’s a wonderful way to get yourself into the holiday spirit!”

Beginning at 4 PM, free photo opportunities with Santa will be available in front of the downtown Christmas tree. Cartersville DDA is excited to announce the return of Cindy Harter of Cindy Harter Photography, who will provide free, professional photographs with Santa. Also, at 4:35 PM, students from Fusion Dance Company will perform on stage followed by Cartersville School of Ballet at 5:15 PM.

The Tom and Chad Show will also provide additional music and entertainment throughout the event, and at 5:59 PM, they will lead the countdown to the official lighting of the Christmas Tree in Friendship Plaza, which this year will be done by Council member Jayce Stepp and family.
