CARTERSVILLE, Ga. – The Allatoona Lake Operations Project Management Office will begin
accepting unwanted, live Christmas trees for recycling from Dec. 26, 2023 until Jan. 3, 2024, at
six drop-off sites around the lake. Artificial trees will not be accepted.
Drop-off locations are:
1. Allatoona Operations Project Management Office
2. Victoria Day-Use Parking Area
3. Sweetwater Campground Overflow Parking Area
4. Payne Boat Ramp
5. Blockhouse 1 Fishing Jetty (behind Main Street Grocery and Bait)
6. Bethany Bridge Fishing Jetty Parking Area.
The specified sites will be marked with signs and flagging tape.
Decorations, including tinsel, lights, garland, bulbs, and artificial snow must be removed before tree
disposal. Trees should be placed in the designated areas within the parking lots. Dumping
household trash at these sites is prohibited.
Park rangers and volunteers will use the trees to create fishing structures for the Allatoona Lake
Fish Habitat Improvement Program, a collaborative effort involving federal, state, and local
governments and several local organizations.
