On Friday, Adairsville Police Department was notified by Bartow 911 that deputies with the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office were in a vehicle pursuit on I-75 southbound with a black Nissan SUV with a New York license plate. The vehicle was traveling between 110-120 MPH and had also eluded the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office on I-75.

One officer with the Adairsville Police Department positioned himself on I-75 south mile marker 304 to deploy spike strips. Another officer with the Adairsville Police Department positioned himself on the exit 306 bridge to assist with the timing of the spike strips. The officer was able to successfully deploy his department-issued stinger spike strips to safely end the pursuit. The vehicle ran over the strips with both front tires. The officer recovered his equipment and then traveled south approximately one half-mile to the location where the pursuit successfully ended. Upon his arrival, both suspects were in custody by Gordon County Deputies. In the back seat of the vehicle were two children, a 1-year-old and 4-year-old, which were unknown to Gordon County at the time of the pursuit. No citizens, children, or officers were injured during the pursuit. The scene was then turned over to the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office to complete its investigation.
