Yesterday in basketball, the Adairsville Tigers boys basketball team picked up a win against Gordon Central to move to 6-4 on the season. The Tigers won by a score of 55-46 and led 20-8 after one quarter and 36-21 at halftime, as their full-court press gave Gordon Central problems all night.

The Woodland Lady Cats fell to Coosa by a score of 57-42 on Monday night. A 29-18 halftime deficit was more than doubled in the third quarter, which saw Coosa outscore Woodland 17-2, as the Lady Cats remain winless on the season.

The Georgia Highlands Lady Chargers picked up a 57-48 victory over the Wallace State Lady Lions on Monday night to improve to 5-8 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. The Lady Chargers kept the game close in the first half, trailing by five at halftime. They would then outscore the Lady Lions in the third quarter to take a 40-37 lead and never look back.

Today in basketball, the Adairsville girls will travel to Southeast Whitfield County at 7:00 and the Adairsville boys will travel to Southeast Whitfield County at 8:15.

Tomorrow in basketball, the Cartersville girls will host Paulding County at 6:00 and the Cartersville boys will host Paulding County at 7:30.

Head Cartersville baseball coach Stuart Chester made some news on Saturday, as he stated that the baseball team will be among the first high school baseball teams to play in the Braves’ new stadium at Suntrust Park. The game will take place during the 2018 season and Chester said there is no date or opponent yet, but that his team will be among the invitees to the first round of high school games played at the park. Cartersville will play a game at State Mutual Stadium, home of the Rome Braves, in 2017.
