According to reports, Bartow 911 received a call about a man breaking into cars near the Bartow Cherokee county line. Officials say the man jumped into a Bartow patrol car and led officers into Cherokee County. Numerous agencies participated in the chase including, Bartow, Cherokee, Emerson and the Georgia State Patrol.
The chase ended on Highway 92 at Dixie Drive around 8:20 p.m. where a Cobb officer rammed the stolen car.
Officials say the suspect was shot after jumping from the vehicle. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
Georgia State Patrol is now handling the wreck investigation and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in handling the shooting.
