A very serious accident occurred in Bartow during the July 4th Holiday weekend. According to an accident report from the Cartersville Police Department, a collision between a Yamaha motorcycle and a Nissan Skyline occurred on July 4th, just before 8:30 p.m. The wreck happened on Douthit Ferry Road, south of Old Alabama Road. According to the report, the motorcycle driver was traveling too closely. The driver of the Nissan told police, he was slowing down to turn right into the Senior Aquatic Center when he was struck from behind. He said the motorcycle driver was traveling at a high rate of speed doing a wheelie when his car was struck from behind. Driver one was transported to the Kennestone Hospital by air ambulance with possible serious injuries to the legs. Driver two was released to family members.
