Seven additional adults and one juvenile have been charged and taken into custody for their roles in two shootings that occurred in Cartersville over the past five weeks.

On April 23rd, Cartersville Police officers initiated an investigation into a shooting that occurred in the area of Lee Street and Walker Street. On April 24th, Cartersville Police and Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents arrested 34-year-old Ronald Michelle Osburn Junior of Cartersville and 23-year-old MaKayla Ann Tanner of Adairsville for their involvement in that shooting.

In the early morning of May 12th, Cartersville officers responded to a shots fired call around Stokley Street. They recovered numerous shell casings from several weapons. Later, investigators located a vehicle with multiple gunshots on the driver’s side of the car. Both the driver and passenger escaped serious injuries. Cartersville Police investigators, along with agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, determined the two shootings were related.

Arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault were Cartersville residents 29-year-old Deon Shaquille Burton, 22-year-old Jesus Deshawn Williams, 22-year-old Jeremiah Keith Lambert, 25-year-old Joseph Dashawn Kennemore, 20-year-old Jaylen Reece Sisson, and Adairsville resident 19-year-old Zakavious Davion Slocum.

Cartersville P.D. charged 24-year-old Naudia Renee Carter of Cartersville with hindering the apprehension or punishment of a criminal. All were lodged at the Bartow County Jail pending bond hearings.

The G.B.I., Bartow County Sheriff’s Office, Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force, and the United States Marshals Service assisted the Cartersville Police Department. This investigation is ongoing.
