Seventy volunteers collected approximately 4,000 pounds of trash and debris during Saturday’s Ray Southern Memorial ATCO Cleanup & Festival. The volunteer value to the community totals $3,100.

This event, which is part of Great American Cleanup events held nationwide each April, has been occurring in various parts of Cartersville for nearly 20 years. Keep Bartow Beautiful and the City of Cartersville have been organizing partners each year of the event’s existence. 2014 was the fourth year that the event was held in the ATCO Mill Village. This was the second year that the event has been named in honor of Ray Southern, the former longtime Cartersville Public Works Director and a member of ATCO Baptist Church.
