Update — A 23-year-old Cartersville man drowned while swimming at Lake Allatoona last week, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

The incident occurred at around 4:15 p.m. at the Cooper’s Day Use Area on May 30.

According to WSB-TV, witnesses said that the victim, identified as Alonso Feliciano Alvarado Tojin, went under the water and never resurfaced.

She also explained that family is from Guatemala and has plans to move his body there to fulfill his last wish.

Beatrice Tojin is also a recent Graduate of Cartersville High School, having graduated on May 25.
