GAMES OF NOTE:

  • Cartersville will play on ESPN2 on Saturday, August 26th for a nationally televised game against Bartram Trail, a 7-A quarterfinalist at 8-5 from the state of Florida. This will be Cartersville’s third out of state game ever and its first since 1924. This game will proceed another nationally televised game to be played at Weinman Stadium between Saraland High School (Alabama) and Heard County High School (Georgia) that is scheduled to start at 2:30 PM and be televised on ESPNU.
  • With Cartersville playing on a Saturday night, WBHF is able to bring you an intra-county game between Cass and Adairsville for the second, consecutive season. Last year, the Colonels beat the Tigers 33-0 in Adairsville.
  • Cartersville will conclude its non-region schedule on September 8th against Westlake, a team that fell to 7-A state champion Roswell in the 2016 GHSA playoffs 28-0 in 2016. Last season, Cartersville beat Westlake 31-0.
  • The WBHF play-by-play team will get its first look at Woodland on September 15th. WBHF got a look at Woodland for the first time in a 42-14 loss to the Kell Longhorns, a team that lost to Buford in the semifinals of the GHSA 5-A playoffs in 2016 28-16. In last year’s contest, Woodland lost to Villa Rica 41-0.
  • Cartersville will open up its region slate against Cedartown on September 22nd. In last season’s contest, the Canes beat current University of Georgia tailback Nick Chubb’s high school 44-6.

To get you ready for each game, WBHF starts Countdown to Kickoff presented by Peachtree Planning with Josh Brock and Don Startup at 6:00 PM. On home games, you can see the two-man operation live at Scott’s Walkup Barbeque just before game time at 7:30 PM.

This year WBHF has made some new additions to the Countdown to Kickoff program. Added into the one-hour pregame show will be a short segment with Shannon Boatfield and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, where certain scholastic athletes will be highlighted for their performances both on and off the field.

Another new segment will also air during the pregame show called “Under the Helmet.” In this segment, WBHF’s Kevin Pate will interview one football player from one high school inside Bartow County to talk about themselves, their team, and their accomplishments.

Live broadcast questions will be available this year by using the hashtag #C2K on Twitter and Facebook. Startup and Brock will answer a few questions towards the end of each broadcast that you may have and can range from high school football, the NFL, or best places to eat for road games!

The final exciting feature that WBHF add is “Friday Night Mania,” which allows you to pick the outcomes of games, turnovers and much other fun over/unders that will be posted on Wednesday morning. Friday Night Mania is a chance for bragging rights amongst your friends and gives you the opportunity to win the grand prize of four College Football Hall of Fame tickets following the conclusion of the regular season on November 3rd.

After the game, make sure you stay tuned to WBHF to hear from local coaches, insight to the games that were played, and comprehensive game summaries and highlights for local schools.

In addition to WBHF’s coverage, you can hear other Bartow County schools play online through Bartow Sports Zone. Charles Wilson and Brad Stephens start their broadcasts at 7:00 and their live stream can be heard by visiting www.bartowsportszone.com.
