WBHF spoke to Ward 5 Councilwoman Dianne Tate on Monday and learned that she will not qualify for a fourth term in August. Tate said that she enjoyed her time on council and that it was an honor to serve but that she had some “family concerns” that made her “think twice about this year.”

Tate stated that family was the big reason she made this decision and that, in her mind, family comes first.

Tate said that she would miss the people that she has met and gotten to know. Tate further stated that Cartersville is “the envy of a lot of cities,” and expressed pride in the department heads.She said that when she “looks back over the last 20 years that every department has done well

She said that when she “back over the last 20 years that every department has done the day to day things well, but also have some big accomplishments” and for her, that is “big.”

Tate is in her third term on the Cartersville City Council and presently serves as the Mayor pro tem.
