At 10:44pm Thursday night BCEMS, BCFD, BCSO and the Cobb County FD responded to a male subject in a large wooded area off of Bish Rd. The male advised 911 he was injured and couldn’t move. The BCEMS crew once on scene requested the UTV be enroute for assistance on transporting the patient from the woods. The crews found the patient about half a mile back in the wooded area. The patient was assessed and was complaining of hip pain with possible fracture of the hip. The crew was able to place the patient on a back board to help stabilize the hip and leg. Once the UTV arrived on the scene the patient was placed in the stokes basket for transport back to the Ambulance. The patient was transported to CMC for treatment of his injuries. The UTV was a great asset to have for this rescue due to the distance in the woods and conditions of the trails. The crews would have had to carry this patient through these trails which due to the rain are slick and muddy which could have resulted in someone falling and injuring the patient even worse or other crew members.
