BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. (March 15, 2018) – “A safe campus is your call.” Bartow County School Police roll out a new motto and two new initiatives to enhance safety district-wide.
A first-of-its-kind hotline is now fully operational, so concerned citizens can make an anonymous phone call, text message, or email to report illegal activity or threats made against a Bartow County school, student, or staff member. The information will be forwarded to an officer and reviewed on a regular basis. Callers will not be contacted unless they provide contact information in their message. We can assure you, all information will remain strictly confidential.
To call in a tip, dial 770-606-5190. To text or email a tip to Bartow County School Police, send messages to tips@bartow.k12.ga.us.
“Whether you’re a student, parent, or community member, we always want you to feel comfortable when reporting possible crimes,” says Bartow County School Police Chief Randall Burch. “It’s the responsibility of a concerned citizen to share information that could prevent a criminal act. If you’re aware of a threatening situation or someone conducting illegal activity on a Bartow County school campus, please contact us immediately.”
The second new program provides elevated school safety measures at the elementary level with a partnership between school police and the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office will be providing deputies to work at designated elementary schools throughout the school week.
In the wake of the tragic events that unfolded in Parkland, Florida, The Bartow County School System purchased about a dozen new security lock systems, and we hope these new programs will bolster security measures even more. We are committed to the families we serve and promise to evaluate and make changes where applicable throughout the school year to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.
