Woodland softball lost its opening game of the region tournament Monday night in Carrollton to the Kell Longhorns, 8-3.

Caroline Higdon had two hits and one RBI for Woodland. Audrey Morris, Jordan Duck, and Morgan Bailey contributed one hit each. Ansley Evans added one RBI.

Woodland will play Hiram at 5:30 today in an elimination game. The winner will play the Kell-Carrollton loser in a second elimination game at 7:30 p.m.

 

Cartersville volleyball swept a pair of non-region matches Monday night at the Storm Center.

The Lady Canes defeated Sonoraville in three sets 25-9, 22-25, and 15-13. They also took a straight-set win over Murray County 25-18 and 25-9.

With the two wins, the Lady Canes improved to 23-3 on the season.

The region tournament begins at Chapel Hill Wednesday with the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals Thursday at the Storm Center.
