Press release from DA’s Office

Following a thorough presentation of evidence, the Bartow County Grand Jury has returned a “no bill” on a proposed indictment against Nancy Beth Gatny, relating to her actions leading to the death of 15 year-old Christopher Roupe while Gatny was employed by the Euharlee Police Department. The District Attorney’s Office for the Cherokee Judicial Circuit presented a proposed indictment charging Gatny with involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct, however the Grand Jury did not find sufficient evidence for the case to proceed to trial. “Because the Grand Jury has determined that the actions of Officer Gatny did not rise to the level of a criminal offense, this concludes the involvement of the District Attorney’s Office in this matter”, District Attorney Rosemary Greene announced.
