Behind Tee Webb’s six passing scores in the first half, the Cartersville Purple Hurricanes improved to 2-0 on the 2018 season with a 55-3 victory over the Luella Lions.
Cartersville led 34-0 after the first quarter and would put up 21 more in the second quarter before Luella put points on the board with a field goal in the third quarter. Cartersville sat its first string in the second half and a running clock helped close out the game.
Webb found Kaleb Chatman for a 48-yard touchdown reception for the first score of the game and found Marcus Gary on the ensuing drive for Cartersville to have a 14-0 lead. Chatman would find the end zone again, but a missed PAT would only give Cartersville a 20-point advantage.
Webb would then show off his own wheels as he scored a rushing touchdown to give Cartersville a 27-0 advantage and would add seven more on his fourth passing score of the night, this one to Gary.
In the second quarter, Gary would add six more on a 4-yard rushing touchdown. With 6:12 to go in the second quarter, Webb would find another Cartersville receiver for a score. The junior quarterback hit Harrison Allen for a 39-yard touchdown and with 3:16 left in the first half, he would connect with Amari Orr to give Cartersville its 55-0 first half advantage.
The Cartersville defense was stingy, holding Luella to just -18 yards in the first half, while the Cartersville offense surpassed 330 yards.
