Press Release from the Bartow Cartersville Drug Task Force:

On Sunday, December 31, 2017, at approximately 0230 Cartersville Police Department (CPD) patrol officers responded to a shots fired call in the vicinity of 2 Cain Drive, Cartersville, Georgia. Upon arrival, officers detected the odor of marijuana, and observed subjects fleeing the premises. Patrol officers secured the scene while they conducted an initial investigation of the reported shots fired.  Responding officers observed marijuana in plain view and initially recovered a semi-automatic handgun.  CPD responding officers notified  the Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force (DTF) to assist in the investigation, due to the number of people inside the residence, the locating of a firearm and the evidence of wide spread drug usage.  Responding officers encountered in excess of 60 individuals inside the residence, including four minors.

Bartow-Cartersville DTF Agents obtained a search warrant for the residence from a Bartow County Magistrate. Seized pursuant to the search warrant, were two   firearms (one reported stolen from Detroit Michigan), marijuana individually packaged, and several smoking devices throughout most of the first-floor rooms. Individually packaged suspected cocaine and cocaine related paraphernalia were also located upon initial contact with multiple subjects.

All the subjects at the residence were placed under arrest for the possession of the suspected marijuana which was within everyone’s reach or control.  All arrestees were immediately transported to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office by multiple transport vans. The booking process for incoming prisoners takes time for those with valid identification, and more time for those who do not, or refuse to reveal their identity which was the case on many of these. As of 5:00 pm Monday all arrestees have been issued a bond amount. The ages of arrestees range from 15 years to 31 years old.
