Georgia State Patrol troopers arrested 24-year-old Kayla Wofford of Ball Ground on Monday night in connection to a single vehicle accident that injured five people.

Bartow County EMS, Fire, Sheriff’s deputies, and GSP responded to the accident on Spring Place Road south of State Route 140 near White at around six o’clock. EMS found the vehicle in the woods approximately 20 yards from the roadway.

According to GSP, Wofford was driving a Chevy Equinox southbound on Spring Place Road when she was driving too fast while trying to negotiate a left curve. The vehicle rotated counter clockwise and Wofford overcorrected, causing the vehicle to cross over into the northbound lane before exiting the roadway, striking a ditch, striking a tree, and overturning.

Wofford and four passengers were injured. 61-year-old John Snowden of Talking Rock sustained chest trauma, was be picked up by a medical helicopter, and taken to a level one trauma center. Four EMS ambulances took the other four patients. 33-year-old Gery Chumley of Jasper sustained a possible head injury and 52-year-old Melody Tidwell of Jasper sustained a possible pelvic fracture. They were taken to Floyd Medical Center. 38-year-old Christopher Hollifield of Jasper complained of neck pain and Wofford complained of leg pain. They were transported to Cartersville Medical Center.

Kayla Wofford was charged with three counts of serious injury by vehicle, DUI alcohol, reckless driving, driving too fast for conditions, failure to maintain lane, and driving without a license on person.
