On Saturday, at approximately 11 p.m., a 2007 Honda Civic was traveling east on Georgia 20 in the first lane. The driver side wheels traveled off the north shoulder of Georgia 20 eastbound. The vehicle then re-entered the eastbound lane of Georgia 20 and began to rotate clockwise. The vehicle then exited the south shoulder of Georgia 20 Eastbound. It continued to rotate before striking a tree.
The driver, Paul Dougherty, age 23 from Cartersville, was fatally injured. Alcohol use is suspected.
